Château Berliquet 2010
• Domaine: Château Berliquet
• Appellation: Saint-Emilion
• Classification: Grand Cru Classé
• Origin: Right Bank, Bordeaux, France
One of the oldest estates in Saint-Emilion, Château Berliquet is located on the limestone plateau just outside the town, right next to Château Canon (see map below). In the past decade, both properties were bought by fashion house, Chanel, to form its wine portfolio. The other famous name also owned by Chanel is the Left Bank property, Château Ranzan-Ségla.
Tasting Notes
"There are seductive aspects to this wine, including ripe black cherry and raspberry fruits as well as nice glycerin, body and fleshiness, but the toasty oak comes through in a rather glaring fashion and the tannins also pick up in the finish, providing a slight astringency to this otherwise well-made wine. It probably needs a few more months at minimum to settle down in the bottle." - Robert Parker Jr, The Wine Advocate (2/27/2013) Rating: 87+
