Argentina

Argentina is South America's largest wine producer and the global home of Malbec. Originally a Bordeaux grape, Malbec found its true voice in the high-altitude vineyards of the Andes, yielding deeply coloured, plush, and fragrant reds that have won a worldwide following.

The heart of quality production is Mendoza, where vineyards climb to well over 1,000 metres in sub-regions such as the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo. The altitude brings intense sunlight and cool nights, preserving freshness and aromatic lift in the wines.

Beyond Malbec, Argentina excels with Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda, and Cabernet Franc among the reds, and the floral white Torrontés — a portfolio of characterful, well-priced wines anchored by some genuinely world-class flagships.
