Grand Échezeaux is a Grand Cru vineyard nestled in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, just south of the famous Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru vineyard and adjacent to another Grand Cru, Échezeaux. The vineyard stretches across the commune of Vougeot, in the Côte d'Or, and spans about 9.1 hectares (22 acres), making it one of the larger Grand Cru sites in the region. The vineyard enjoys an ideal southeastern exposure, allowing the Pinot Noir grape to ripen fully while benefiting from the cooling effects of the surrounding forested areas.

The history of Grand Échezeaux dates back to the medieval period, with records indicating it was already under vine cultivation in the 13th century, particularly under the auspices of monks from the Cistercian order. The vineyard was originally a part of the larger Échezeaux estate, which has long been known for its quality. Grand Échezeaux received its Grand Cru status in the official classification of Burgundy’s vineyards in 1936.

The terroir of Grand Échezeaux is defined by deep, well-drained, clay-limestone soils that are rich in iron and minerals, promoting healthy vine growth and concentration in the grapes. The vineyard’s slope, with an altitude ranging between 250 and 300 meters, provides optimal sun exposure to ripen the Pinot Noir grapes. The vineyard's relatively large size compared to other Grand Crus allows for greater diversity in terroir expression, resulting in nuanced wines.

Grand Échezeaux produces exclusively red wines planted with Pinot Noir, the emblematic red grape of Burgundy. The wines from this esteemed Grand Cru are celebrated for their impressive depth, refined balance, deep purple-blue- garnet-red  color and intense aromatic profile featuring ripe dark fruits like blackberry, and raspberry, sherry fruit combined with soft spices.
