Fifth Growths
The Fifth Growths — Cinquièmes Crus — form the largest tier of the 1855 Classification, with eighteen estates, the majority of them in Pauillac. Far from a footnote, the tier contains some of the Médoc's most dynamic and sought-after châteaux.
Château Pontet-Canet, a biodynamic pioneer, and Château Lynch-Bages, long celebrated for delivering well above its rank, lead a distinguished field that also includes Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Château d'Armailhac and Château Clerc-Milon (both part of the Mouton Rothschild stable), Château Batailley, and Château Cantemerle.
