The Fourth Growths — Quatrièmes Crus — are the ten estates ranked in the fourth tier of the 1855 Classification, drawn largely from Saint-Julien, Margaux, Pauillac, and Saint-Estèphe. Despite their position, several rank among the most reliable and well-loved châteaux of the Médoc.
Château Beychevelle, whose striking riverside estate and label make it one of Saint-Julien's most recognisable wines, sits alongside Château Talbot, Château Branaire-Ducru, Château Saint-Pierre, and Château Duhart-Milon, the Lafite Rothschild stable's Pauillac property. Château Prieuré-Lichine and Château Marquis de Terme fly the flag in Margaux.
Cabernet Sauvignon-based and grown on classic Left Bank gravel, Fourth Growths deliver classified-growth pedigree, polish, and ageworthiness at approachable prices.
