One of the oldest estates in Saint-Emilion, Château Berliquet is located on the limestone plateau just outside the town, right next to Château Canon (see map below).  In the past decade, both properties were bought by fashion house, Chanel, to form its wine portfolio.  The other famous name also owned by Chanel is the Left Bank property, Château Ranzan-Ségla.

Tasting Notes

"A strong effort from Berliquet, the 2010 was fashioned from yields of 23 hectoliters per hectare by the managing consultant, Nicholas Thienpont and Stephane Derenoncourt.  Composed of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers copious aromas of sweet kirsch liqueur, underbrush, plums and black cherries.  This mineral-laced, deep, medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic, broad, savory St.-Emilion exhibits more power and depth than past vintages.  Drink it over the next 10-15 years." - Robert Parker Jr (5/1/2011, Issue 194) Rating: 90-93

"From a site near Canon, just down from Beau-Séjour Bécot, the 2016 Château Berliquet is a plump, rounded, medium-bodied Saint-Emilion with classic red and black cherry fruits, hints of leafy herbs and earth, and a charming, balanced feel that’s very much in the style of the 2016 vintage. A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, brought up in 50% new oak, it will put a smile on your face any time over the coming 10-15 years." - Jeb Dunnuck,, Rating: 92, Maturity: 2019-2034
