Tasting Notes
"The 2001 has an opaque purple color and a gorgeous nose of roasted hazelnuts intermixed with toast, espresso notes, sweet black currants and cherries, plums, and figs. The wine is full-bodied, plush, with great purity, tremendous texture, and a long (nearly 60-second) finish. This has turned out to be a brilliant effort. This is another brilliant effort from this estate, which has soared in quality under the administration of the Cathiard-Garcins, who purchased the property in 1997, immediately removing it from the Jean-Pierre Moueix empire. Virtually every vintage prior to 1997 was vegetal, thin, and largely unpalatable, so the difference in quality is all the more remarkable. It is a tiny estate, rarely producing more than 1,300 cases, and particularly so under the new administration, where selection is everything. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020." - Robert Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate, (04/22/2003, Issue 146), Rating: 92-95. Drink: 2009-2020..
