Virginie de Valandraud Blanc 2020
• Domaine: Château Valandraud
• Appellation: Bordeaux Blanc
• Classification: Blanc, Bordeaux
• Origin: Right Bank, Bordeaux, France
The culmination of arduous efforts by a couple passionate about fine wine, Murielle Andraud and Jean-Luc Thunevin, Château Valandraud started out with the purchase of a 0.6 hectare plot of vines in a small valley in Saint-Emilion, located between Pavie-Macquin and La Clotte. Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud gradually acquired several other plots or estates and the chateau now has a total of 8.88 hectares in Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse in the Saint-Emilion appellation. The combination of traditional winemaking, state of the art techniques, and innovation at every step of the way in each vintage takes place with just one goal in mind: to make the best possible wine.
After inspiring many budding winemakers and leading to the emergence of "garage wine" movement, Château Valandraud was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé status in the 2012 Saint-Emilion classification, just 21 years after its creation.
After their stunning success in producing red Bordeaux wine, the owners have added white Bordeaux wine to their production.

Tasting Notes
"The 2020 Virginie de Valandraud Blanc leaps from the glass with exuberant notes of green guava, passion fruit and ripe pears, plus hints of coriander seed, lemongrass and wet pebbles. The medium-bodied palate has impressive purity and intensity, delivering a racy backbone to offset the tropical fruit flavors, finishing long and lively." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate (5/20/2021), Ratings: 89-91, Drink: 2022-2030
