Located in Vosne-Romanee, right next to the Domaine Leroy, the estate counts 27 hectares. Noellat is a popular name across the Cote de Nuits. In the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Michel Noëllat & Fils has embodied both tradition and innovation for generations. Founded by Félix Noëllat in the 19th century, the 20 hectare vineyards of the estate have been entrusted to 5 successive generations, each leaving their mark on the heritage of this prestigious estate.

Noëllat finds a commitment to progress without renouncing the ancestral traditions that define Burgundian winemaking. This alliance between innovation and respect is perceptible in every aspect of the estate's operations.

In 1980, Michel Noëllat commissioned the construction of an authentic stone vaulted cellar beneath the property, a tangible symbol of his dedication to preserving and enriching the region's wine heritage. After Michel’s death in 1989, his sons Alain and Jean-Marc Noellat took over the reigns of the estate, Sophie, daughter of Alain Noellat and her cousin Sebastuien, are now in charge of the winemaking.

The hand-harvested grapes undergo rigorous sorting before being delicately transported to the cellar in small containers to preserve their integrity. The wines of his vintage  For red wines, a meticulous maceration process takes place over three days at low temperatures, followed by fermentation in closed tanks.

Throughout vinification, regular pumping over and perforations of the cap ensure optimal extraction of flavors and tannins. The wines then mature gracefully in French oak barrels, with judicious use of new wood to complement the fruit expression. After 15 to 18 months of aging, the wines are bottled, each vintage being a testimony to the terroir and the art of the Noëllat family.

Tasting Notes

"The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Village comes from les Communes and a small parcel in Aux Ormes. A little deeper in color than the Nuits Saint-Georges. The fruit here is darker than the other crus, perhaps demonstrating a little more skin maceration, though it maintains satisfying delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit tinged with sea salt. Nicely balanced, if just a little heavy on the finish, this "hearty" Vosne-Romanée is best consumed over the next 5-6 years." - Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate, Ratings: 85-87, Drink: 2018-2023
