The domaine Jean-Francois Rapet is located in Burgundy. This family estate is known for producing high quality wines that faithfully represent the Burgundy terroir. The estate has been managed by the Rapet family for several generations. They practice environmentally respectful viticulture with particular attention paid to the quality of the grape and soil work. The wines are carefully crafted using traditional methods highlighting the unique burgundy terroir.
Auxey-Duresses (pronounced “Aussey”) stands at the entrance to a valley which runs from the Côte de Beaune into the Hautes Côtes, following the road that leads from Beaune to Autun amongst hump-backed hillsides. Together with its hamlets of Petit-Auxey and Mélian, Auxey-Duresses is incontestably one of Burgundy’s Celtic and Gallo-Roman wine-growing districts. It was formerly an outlying property of the abbey of Cluny, producing both grains and grapes. The corn-mills have now gone but there are still wine presses. The AOC Auxey-Duresses was formed in 1937 and includes nine prime cru vineyards and 36 excellent lieu dits. The climate around Auxey-Duresses is of continental type with warm, dry summers and cool, extended winters contributing to the growth of red and white wines and the production of red and white vines. The domaine Jean-François Rapet produces both red and white wines from the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties.
The 2014 vintage features a deep ruby color with hints of garnet offering a visually enticing experience. The bouquet reveals aromas of red berries, earthy notes and a touch of floral tones. On the palate, the wine is well-balanced with good acidity and fine tannins. It has an elegant structure and a long finish with a velvety texture with flavors of red fruits and a hint of cinnamon. Jean-Francois Rapet Auxey-Duresses 2014 is light and fruity wine, it's an ideal partner for delicate or white meats. While it can be enjoyed now, the 2014 vintage also has good aging potential and can continue to improve for several more years.
