Tasting Notes

"The 2015 Montlandrie is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, picked between September 29 and October 8, and matured in 45% new oak. This is perhaps more precocious on the nose compared to Denis Durantou's La Chenade and Les Cruzelles 2015s, gradually revealing an attractive floral, dried rose petal/pot pourri scent as it opens in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite grippy in the mouth, the acidity nicely judged here and again, very harmonious and sensual on the finish. About Castillon - Côtes de Bordeaux

The Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation is located in Bordeaux on the Right Bank of the Dordogne river extending from the renowned wine region of Saint-Emilion. It takes the name from the historic town of Castillon-La-Bataille famous for the battle of Castillon in 1453, which ended the Hundred Years War. This appellation was created in 2009 and covers more than 1,800 hectares over 9 villages. The vineyards Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux benefit from diverse geology and a temperate climate, ideal for grape ripening. The terroir consists of clay-limestone and gravel soils, promoting the production of complex and well-balanced wines. All Côtes de Bordeaux are red and mainly made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc. Malbec and Petit Verdot are sometimes added by certain producers. Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux wines are known for their deep ruby color, aromas of ripe fruits, plum and often a hint of spice. The best-known estates are : Château d’Aiguilhe, Château Montlandrie, Château L’Hetre, Château La Raison d’Hetre, Château Goubau, Château Roquevieille, Château La Pierriere, Château Beynat, Château de Colombe, Château La Clarière.
