The Vosne-Romanée appellation is located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy and it lies along the famous Route des Grands Crus, an iconic route that passes through some of Burgundy’s greatest vineyards. It is situated between the villages of Nuits Saint-Georges to the south and Vougeot to the north, about 20 km south of Dijon. This small village covers a limited area but is home to some of the most prestigious vineyards, including famous Grands Crus such as La Romanée Conti, La Romanée, La Tâche and Richebourg.

The terroir of Vosne Romanée is characterized by limestone soils mixed with clay and marl. The climate continental with warm summers and cool winters fostering the production of elegant wines. The vineyards benefit from an ideal orientation situated on the gentle slopes of the Côte d’Or at an average altitude of 250 to 300 meters. The vineyards of the Vosne Romanée covers around 175 hectares which includes Grands Crus vineyards, Premiers Crus vineyards (including 14 Premiers Crus Climats) and some village appellation vineyards.

The style of Vosne Romanée wines is often described as a combination of elegance and power. This appellation produces red wines exclusively made from Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape of Burgundy; these wines represent the ultimate expression of this grape variety. Vosne Romanée wines are characterized by their bright ruby color, which deepens into garnet hues as they age. On the nose, these wines have a delicate and well-defined bouquet. They reveal complex and intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant often accompanied by floral notes like rose or violet. On the palate, these wines are remarkably silky with fine tannins and well-balanced acidity.

Some estates in this appellation are well known, such as : Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, Maison Joseph Drouhin, Domaine Michel Gros, Domaine Perrot-Minot, Domaine Bruno Clair, Domaine Michel Noëllat, Domaine Dominique Mugneret, Domaine Louis Latour and Domaine Bouchard.

Footnotes on Futures, Pre-Arrivals, and potential US Tariffs:

1. On June 15, 2021, the US and the EU agreed to suspend tariffs resulting from the Boeing-Airbus aircraft trade disputes. The new Trump Administration has announced plans to impose new tariffs on global trade. Until further notice, the price of Futures and Pre-Arrivals offered on this site does NOT include any tariffs. Additional charges may apply at the time of delivery.

2. Futures are expected to be available for delivery two years after the sales (e.g., the 2022 vintage, sold in 2023, will be delivered in 2025 mostly, or 2026 if the producer ages the wine longer).

3. Pre-Arrivals are items currently stored in our Bordeaux cellar or in transit from France to the US. It usually takes 1-6 months for Pre-Arrivals to become available for delivery, depending on the stage of the import process.

4. Regarding futures and pre-arrivals, we cannot guarantee specific delivery dates, which factors beyond our control may impact. However, we will notify you once your wine arrives in our cellar.

5. While a buyer of Bordeaux wine futures locks in an allocation of the specified items, the final delivery of the purchased items from France to the US may be impacted by intervening and unforeseeable events. Despite our due diligence, additional costs or delays may be caused by such intervening and unforeseen events and "an irresistible, superhuman cause, or by the act of public enemies of the state of California or the United States."  In such circumstances, if a buyer does not accept unforeseeable costs or delays, the sole and exclusive remedy is a cancellation of the futures order concerned and a refund of the original purchase price. We are NOT liable for any lost profits on a canceled order.
