Vincent Prunier comes from a long line of winemakers, with his family having cultivated vineyards in Burgundy for several generations. The Prunier family has a longstanding tradition of winemaking in Burgundy, with deep roots in the region's viticultural history. Over the years, successive generations have passed down their knowledge and expertise in vineyard management and winemaking techniques. Vincent Prunier, representing the latest generation of the family, established his eponymous domaine, Domaine Vincent Prunier, in the early 1990s. With a passion for Burgundian terroir and a commitment to quality, Vincent set out to produce wines that would showcase the unique characteristics of the region's vineyards. Today, Vincent Prunier continues to uphold the family legacy of winemaking excellence, producing wines that capture the essence of Burgundy's terroir. With a focus on tradition, innovation, and environmental sustainability, Vincent Prunier wines represent the best of Burgundy's wine making heritage. Vincent Prunier focuses on small-scale, artisanal production, allowing him to devote meticulous attention to each step of the winemaking process. This hands-on approach ensures that the wines reflect the unique characteristics of their vineyard sites.

Chardonnay is the primary grape variety used for Vincent Prunier's white wines. This versatile grape thrives in Burgundy's diverse terroir, producing wines with a wide range of flavors and styles. Vincent Prunier's Chardonnay vines are carefully tended using organic and biodynamic farming practices to promote vine health and the expression of terroir. Additionally, Pinot Noir is the dominant grape variety for Vincent Prunier's red wines. Known as the "heartbreak grape," Pinot Noir is notoriously difficult to grow but excels in Burgundy's limestone-rich soils. Vincent Prunier's Pinot Noir vines are meticulously cared for to ensure optimal ripeness and flavor development, resulting in wines that are elegant, complex, and reflective of their terroir.

Vincent Prunier's red wines crafted from Pinot Noir are renowned for their elegance, finesse, and purity of fruit. Aromas typically include red berry fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, and cherries, along with floral notes of violet and rose. Earthy undertones, such as forest floor, mushroom, and damp leaves, may also be present, adding complexity to the wine.

On the palate, Pinot Noir wines from Vincent Prunier are characterized by their silky texture, balanced acidity, and refined tannins. Flavors of ripe berries are often accompanied by hints of spices, herbs, and tea leaves, with a long, lingering finish. Vincent Prunier's red wines also have excellent aging potential, particularly those from Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. While Pinot Noir wines can be enjoyable in their youth, they often benefit from several years of aging to soften the tannins, develop complexity, and reveal additional layers of flavor. With proper cellaring, well-made Pinot Noir wines from Burgundy, including those from Vincent Prunier, can evolve gracefully for a decade or more, offering a rewarding drinking experience as they mature.

Tasting Notes

"This wine is the Chardonnay grape dressed in glittering gold!  It boasts firm coloration with green highlights.  Aromas of mayflower, acacia, and honeysuckle blend with verbena and hazel nut and in some cases toast or fresh butter.  This wine boasts a profound minerality (flint).  Age brings in notes of honey or ripe pear.  Rounded and often opulent, its attack is instantaneous.  On the palate, fleshiness is matched by mellowness, and both are equally persistent."  - Bourgogne Wine Board

Footnotes on Futures, Pre-Arrivals, and potential US Tariffs:

1. As of June 15, 2021, the US and the EU agreed to suspend tariffs resulting from the Boeing-Airbus aircraft trade disputes. Accordingly, such import taxes are now suspended for the next five years.

2. Futures are expected to be available for delivery two years after the sales (e.g., the 2022 vintage, sold in 2023, will be delivered in 2025 mostly, or 2026 if the producer ages the wine longer).

3. Pre-Arrivals are items currently stored in our Bordeaux cellar or in transit from France to the US. It usually takes 1-6 months for Pre-Arrivals to become available for delivery, depending on the stage of the import process.

4. Regarding futures and pre-arrivals, we cannot guarantee specific delivery dates, which factors beyond our control may impact. However, we will notify you once your wine arrives in our cellar.

5. While a buyer of Bordeaux wine futures locks in an allocation of the specified items, the final delivery of the purchased items from France to the US may be impacted by intervening and unforeseeable events. Despite our due diligence, additional costs or delays may be caused by such intervening and unforeseen events and "an irresistible, superhuman cause, or by the act of public enemies of the state of California or the United States."  In such circumstances, if a buyer does not accept unforeseeable costs or delays, the sole and exclusive remedy is a cancellation of the futures order concerned and a refund of the original purchase price. We are NOT liable for any lost profits on a canceled order.
