Griotte-Chambertin
Griotte-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits, and among the smallest, covering less than three hectares. Its name is often linked to the griotte, a small sour cherry, evoking the wine's vivid red-fruit character.
Tucked into a slight hollow on the mid-slope, with limestone soils and a favourable exposure, the vineyard yields Pinot Noir of exceptional perfume and finesse. Griotte-Chambertin is typically the most charming and aromatic of Gevrey's Grands Crus — silky and fragrant rather than massive.
With production tiny and growers few, it is also one of the rarest, prized by collectors for its sheer elegance and its purity of cherry and rose-petal fruit.
