Domaine Guillot-Broux is a cherished winemaking estate founded by Jean-Gérard Guillot and Jacqueline Guillot-Broux in 1978 in Cruzille, located in the heart of the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, France. Jean-Gérard Guillot, the visionary founder of Domaine Guillot-Broux, possessed a deep-rooted passion for winemaking and a profound understanding of the land, vines, and wine. After gaining valuable experience working on his family's vineyard, he embarked on a journey to deepen his knowledge of winemaking. This quest for expertise led him to prestigious estates such as Domaine de la Chanal in Brouilly, Beaujolais, and Domaine Bernard Michelot in Meursault, where he honed his craft and absorbed the nuances of winemaking. In 1978, Jean-Gérard returned to Cruzille, where he and his wife Jacqueline established Domaine Guillot-Broux, marrying her maiden name "Broux" with his own. Together, they embarked on a mission to craft wines that reflected the unique terroir of their vineyards and showcased their profound understanding of winemaking.
The estate's portfolio includes single-vineyard cuvées, highlighting the distinctive character of each terroir, alongside entry-level wines that showcase the vintage's overall expression. With minimal use of additives and a focus on quality over quantity, Domaine Guillot-Broux produces wines of exceptional purity, depth, and age-worthiness.
For white wines, Chardonnay grapes undergo gentle pressing and fermentation in oak barrels, enhancing complexity and texture. Meanwhile, red wines crafted from Pinot Noir or Gamay grapes undergo careful fermentation in vats before aging in oak barrels.
Maturation in oak barrels for eleven months imparts structure and complexity to the wines, with top cuvées sometimes spending a second winter in barrels before bottling. The result is a collection of wines that beautifully express their origins, reflecting the Humbert family's dedication to crafting wines of elegance, balance, and terroir-driven character.
The vines used for the cuvée La Myotte were planted in 1956. The owners describe this wine as "noble, yet capricious". It is only bottled in excellent vintages. The cuvée La Myotte Vieilles Vignes is made from the older vines of the plot, only available in exceptional vintages when the old vines produce enough grapes. This is the best wine the domaine has to offer.
The enchanting names given to the various climats by Burgundians carry poetic meanings throughout the centuries. Les Genièvrières means "the place of junipers".
