Tasting Notes

"Aromas of sliced apples and lime zest with citrus blossom and crushed stones. Polished and round-textured on the palate with a full body and tangy acidity. Creamy finish. 60% sauvignon blanc and 40% semillon. Drink or hold." - James Suckling (1/16/2023) Rating: 93

"The 2020 Cuvee Caroline leaps from the glass with notes of lemon drops, fresh grapefruit and lime cordial, plus wafts of yuzu and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied, the palate has a seriously racy backbone cutting through the intense citrus and savory layers, finishing with great length and a skip in its step." - Lisa Perotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate, (5/20/2021) Rating: 90-92 Drink: 2023-2031

"Juicy and enjoyable, an easy to recommend wine with exotic pink grapefruit, white peach and pear flesh. This is the special cuvée Caroline, I tasted the main estate wine also, and both show the brilliant consistency across the wines of this property, lime and citrus flavours, bright and light, with just the right acidity and richness mix." - Jane Anson, Decanter (5/25/2021) Rating: 91

Graves is one of the oldest wine regions in Bordeaux located on the Left Bank along the Garonne River in the south of the city of Bordeaux. The name of the appellation says a lot about its terroir because this place is mostly characterized by gravel soils which it is named Graves.

The climate is influenced by ocean breezes and the unique soil consists of gravelly, sand, clay and some limestone outcrops. It is the unique appellation able to produce three different wines : red, white and sweet wines, all distinguished by their quality and diversity.

The red wines of Graves often made from emblematic grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot present aromas of red and black fruits enhanced by spicy and earthy notes. The white wines primarily from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle offer a rich aromatic diversity blending citrus, white flowers and mineral nuances.

Among the most prestigious estates in Graves some Châteaux stand out for their history and reputation such as Château Haut-Brion, Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Château Pape Clément
